Cultural Considerations Investing Outside of Retirement Retirement Plans (Traditional)

Minh (Tracy) has been a technical product marketing professional for more than 20 years in the semiconductor industry. Minh holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. Even though she was naturally frugal and saved quite a bit, she didn’t know how to invest that money, and was essentially drifting through life with no real sense of purpose. A few years ago, Minh decided to go on a learning quest to understand how to invest. With her interest in travelling, she first stumbled on the idea of travel rewards to use points and miles to travel for free or almost free, leveraging responsible credit card spending. Then she learnt that travel reward is one of the main pillars of financial independence, also known as FI, or financial freedom. Her Why of FI (health, family and time with family) became the north star for the next chapter of her life. She dived deep into the world of personal finance and was able to manage her financial life, including a DIY investment portfolio, independently. All the learnings and readings led her to seeking for opportunities to spread that knowledge to others, especially children, youth and young adults. Minh believes this generation is what will make a difference in the world, and she wants to be a part of it.
