Passionate About...
Budgeting Debt Management Student Loans

I’m Erin Swenson, and I know how overwhelming finances can feel because I’ve been there myself. Growing up as a first-generation college student with three siblings, my family had little understanding of things like scholarships, FAFSA, or student loans. After college, I started my first job and quickly realized I wasn’t prepared for decisions like how to invest in my 401k, choose the right benefits, or manage my paycheck. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot through my own mistakes and experiences, and now I’m passionate about helping others avoid the same stress and confusion when it comes to money.
When I’m not talking about finances, you’ll usually find me staying active—I love running half marathons in different cities with my sister (and am a proud ‘one-and-done’ marathoner!)), lifting weights, and watching football, soccer, and basketball. I also enjoy reading, mostly non-fiction, but I’ll pick up a good fiction book when I’m traveling. I love a cozy night with pizza, a good movie, and some laughs with my husband. I’m a creature of habit—I love my morning coffee, afternoon walks, and filling my life with routines that keep me grounded and energized. Above all, laughter is an essential part of my life.
I’m excited to be at 3rd Decade and help you feel more confident about your financial future, but I also want to make sure you feel at ease in the process.

Get to Know Erin

What is a book or film that changed your life? The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. I read it every few years, it helps with perspective, following our dreams, and that so much richness lives in the journey. My bridesmaid and our groomsmen read quotes from this book at my wedding.
What is a quote you like to live by? Silence is not the absence of something but the presence of everything - Gordon Hempton
What is something unique you'd like us to know about you? I skateboard! I started when I was 9 and it faded when I went to High School. For my 40th birthday I set a goal to skate again and do a backside kick turn on a ramp at a local skate park. I met a great group of women at a non profit called Skate Like a Girl, and I did it!
